A historic ride through Groenlo and its surroundings.
As part of the promotion of Groenlo as a fortified city, the Groenlo Vestingstad Express has been running since 2008. This train runs two different, beautiful routes through the Achterhoek and the German nature reserve Zwillbrock. This tourist train runs daily in high season and during vacations (excluding Friday) from our holiday park in Gelderland. In the early and late season, the train only runs on Wednesdays and weekends.
A journey through nature and history
In the footsteps of Frederik Hendrik during the Eighty Years’ War. A historic ride of about 2 hours with the Fortress City Express along the striking places of Groenlo and the most beautiful attractions in the wider area. The drivers are the guide. The route departs from our campsite in Gelderland and continues its way, via an interesting tour. Again pay attention to the last train as stated in the timetable.
